Cultural Appropriation and Donkeys

The domestic donkey (Equus Africanus asinus) is a hoof-mammal belonging to the family Equidae. Originating from Africa the domestic donkey is derived from African wild ass. Depending on the species domestic donkeys are classified either as a subspecies or as a distinct species.

Arse against. ass

"Arse" is a British term used to describe a'stupid person but is it an abbreviation for gape 'ass'? There is some confusion here since both are derived from the horse-like animals. In the USA the correct name for the donkey is 'Ass'.

The word arse originated as an innocuous term used to describe the body part however, it has since become an unpopular word. In the 19th century'ass was developed as a variant of arse. It originally meant a group of horselike animals however, in the 1860s it was transformed into an expression of an afterword. It's also used in the phrase 'to arse about'. "Ass" can also be used in the phrase 'to make an ass of oneself that has an association with 'to groan about'. However there are many threads of meaning in arse that aren't present in the word 'ass'.

Appropriateness in popular Culture

Sometimes, gape we encounter situations in which a dominant culture adopts elements of the culture of a minority group. This is referred to as cultural appropriation, Japanese may lead to disrespect from minority members. Many Black people feel this is a patronizing behaviour, whether wearing the Native American headdress to a event or in blackface for sex-Massage Halloween.

In addition to adopting elements of cultures that are not native to the minority A dominant group may also make use of intellectual property belonging to the minority group. This is possible through blackfishing for instance. It is important to consider that people of the color of their skin have a history of being marginalized and excluded. For Web-Cam example, when you see a person of color wearing a blackface Halloween costume, you should consider the history of black people being excluded.
